The Medical Myriad

9 November 2020

Two of our Year 12 students, Shreya and Gabriella, have created and written a new magazine for those interested in pursuing a dental or medical career.

The Medical Myriad has been designed to offer pupils an insight into these professions through a broad range of features, including days in the life of healthcare professionals, Q&A with alumnae, disease-awareness articles, work experience reports, snippets from current pupils, book reviews and much more. This superbly presented magazine will be a source of invaluable information to any student starting to think about a career in healthcare.

To find out more about The Medical Myriad, where the idea originated and how it was put together, we spoke to Shreya –

“We thought of the idea together, with the help of Dr Regardsoe, as Gabby wants to pursue dentistry and I would like to go down a medical career path. We decided that a medical magazine, which is something fairly new for our school, would be a great way for us to explore and research what we’ll potentially spend the rest of our lives doing! Our main aim was to provide a condensed pack of detailed knowledge, news and recommendations for aspiring medics and dentists around the school.

To source the content and gather information, both Gabby and I contacted external medics, including consultants at the John Radcliffe and OHS alumnae. We took the opportunity to ask questions that we knew our fellow students would like to know the answers to, such as how to manage the workload and application process for a medical degree.

Aside from all the useful knowledge we acquired, the magazine allowed Gabby and I to work as a team, improving our communication and cooperation skills.”
