When it comes to thinking about the future, it is true that we routinely encourage our Sixth Formers to apply to the best universities in the UK and beyond. But more importantly we also encourage them to apply for the subjects about which they are passionate and in which we know they will thrive.
OHS students are highly regarded by universities and are enormously successful in achieving offers from all leading universities, including leading institutions for art, music and the performing arts. Typically 1 in 4 of our applicants is successful in securing places at Oxford and Cambridge and 1 in 8 for Medicine, with additional places secured at Ivy League universities.
Of course, it’s never just about Oxbridge. When advising our students about next steps, the key message is that it’s the right match for each individual, whether that’s a conservatoire, a place on a highly competitive Art Foundation course, or a sought-after course at a leading Russell Group university. We know our students well, and place a lot of emphasis on bespoke mentoring conversations between girls and their tutors alongside Dr Strobel, our Head of Careers, and Director of Sixth Form, Miss Pallas-Brown.
Typically, we enjoy a 100% success rate for Medicine, with over between 80-90% of our applicants routinely securing places at Russell Group Plus universities and between circa 90% meeting their first choice offer. You can read more about our A Level Results and University Destinations here.
Furthermore, thanks to our innovative 360 Programme, we are able to ensure that all our students are equipped with not only the qualifications they need to gain entry to these leading institutions, but also the understanding, agile-thinking, self-awareness, leadership and confidence to thrive at university and beyond.
