Head Girl’s Blog

1 March 2024

Hello everyone, my name is Maya and I’m the new Head Girl at Oxford High School. I joined the school in Year 2, and have watched it develop and grow into the innovative and inclusive place, driven by a love of learning, that it is. My A-levels are Philosophy, Spanish and Maths, all of which I am thoroughly enjoying so far. I truly love this school and am so very grateful not only to be a part of it but also to have the chance to be a representative of it! I genuinely wouldn’t be the strong person I am now if not for the supportive environment of OHS.

The Prefect Team and I are so excited to start our journey with you for the next year, as you can read in their own personal introductions! Oxford High has had a great first half of the second term, with exciting opportunities such as the Mandarin visit to Chinatown and the Year 10 Science Live event. Not to mention the Year 8 Speak Out! competition, the heats of which are taking place this half term. This is a competition that allows students to hone their persuasion skills and public speaking confidence. Participants deliver a speech that presents an argument on any topic that they are passionate about. It is a prime example of the kind of thing at OHS that really encourages students to Go Beyond! I can’t wait to see how the rest of our Spring term unfolds!
