As a conclusion to this term’s topic, Year 5 visited the Earth Trust’s eco village at Wittenham Clumps recently enjoying a sunny day exploring the site, taking in the wonderful views and learning about the wildlife. They also investigated the five key sustainability themes of: energy, transport, water, food and waste, tried to calculate their own eco-footprint and in groups, design an eco village. Below are some of the comments from the girls about their visit;
‘I loved learning about our earth and making the village.’
‘My favourite bit of the trip was walking up the hill – the view was mindblowing!’
‘It was great, I loved running down the hill and learning about the wildlife.’
‘I learned lots of interesting facts and I liked making our eco village.’
‘I really enjoyed doing the eco village and carbon footprint activity. I learnt that I need to save more energy.’
