On a bright but changeable weekend, nearly 80 Year 10 students commenced and completed their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Expeditions.
After an introductory day navigating around Farmoor on Friday 30th April, the students embarked on their qualifying expedition in the foothills of the Cotswolds on the Saturday and Sunday. The groups skillfully put into practice the navigational tips given to them by Dr Rushton on the training day, although one or two groups did take some unexpected diversions… but what would DofE be without getting a little lost?
Though a little worn and weary, all students finished their expeditions successfully and safe and there was an enormous sense of accomplishment, having shown high levels of teamwork and perseverance through the sun, rain, and (unexpectedly for May) hail throughout the weekend.
A huge well done to everyone on this incredible achievement. It is so great to get started with expeditions again!
Year 9 will start their expedition adventures this weekend.
