Oxford High is working with local Oxfordshire primary school teachers to provide a FA coaching sessions and girls’ football fixtures as part of the FA Primary Teachers Award. The initiative is part of a new Oxford High programme of outreach training and support for local Oxfordshire schoolgirls keen to start playing football. This programme has had the fantastic support of the Oxfordshire FA and Reed Education plus Oxford United, the Summertown Stars and the Oxford School Games team, to support primary school staff in gaining the key skills needed for coaching football within schools. The students at OHS are also getting involved by taking leadership roles at the participating schools, as part of a wider Football at Oxford High programme. This includes regular training and coaching opportunities plus tournaments for local primary schools whose girls would not otherwise be able to play in such events. OHS students are actively volunteering both in school and at the local clubs to gain leadership skills and play a part in their local community.
Schools involved include:
