Head’s Awards

Head’s Awards are given for exceptional performances both inside and outside of school. Congratulations to the following students:

Congratulations to Pui Ying (Valerie) L (year 10) on coming second in the Girls’ Junior Foil at the Public Schools Fencing Championships 2024!

Beatrice B (year 10), Charlotte C and Amelie L (year 9) for qualifying to compete in the English Schools Cross Country Championships after running excellently in the Oxfordshire round at Radley College. This race involves competing against all other counties in England who have also qualified.

Sophie M (year 7) for qualifying for the National Schools Cross Country Championships after her brilliant racing at the Oxfordshire Schools event in January.

Claudia L (year 12) exceptional contribution, leadership and performance in table tennis, both inside and outside of school.

Congratulations to Phoebe R (year 10) on being cast in a lead part in Garsington Opera’s production of Benjamin Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Garsington Opera is one of the top professional companies in the UK.

Congratulations to Lexi C and Emilia N (year 9) on winning the Colin Touchin Cup at the Oxford Music Festival, which is awarded for the best wind ensemble performance at the festival.

Maddie D (year 13) and Emma L (year 13)  for their MC roles at the TED talk and for delivering and supporting the event with such confidence and good humour.

Alicia Q (year 8), Aneesa Z (Year 8), Tilly H (Year 13), Esther K (year 13), Alice M (year 13), Katharina M (year 13), Amy W (year 11), Maria F (year 9), Evie H (year 9), Florence H (year 9 ) Maia M (year 9), Emilia N (year 9) and Alice Z (year 9) who all receive a Head’s Award for their powerful and insightful TED talk which demonstrated not just their confidence but their authenticity.

Holly W (year 8) contributed and performed in a Drama A Level scripted piece ‘The Ash Girl’ by Timberlake Wertenbaker. Holly is to be highly praised for her dramatic talent, commitment and conscientiousness throughout rehearsals and performance night.

Congratulations to Cecily W (year 12) on being selected for the England Women’s U17 Team to play in UEFA European Women’s Under-17 Championship Round 2 in Serbia. 

Amalie H (year 12) and Angela L (year 12) for leading a session at the GDST SLT Conference on the core values of the OHS Sixth Form programme: being authentic, advocates for self and others, and aware of the difference you can make in the wider world.

Mysha B (year 12) had another successful outing at the BD Vale View High Profile Show where she came 3rd in the FEI Junior Individual class (Under 18) and 6th in the FEI Young Rider Team class (Under 21). She was able to achieve a +68% FEI qualifying score at the show and was selected by British Dressage to represent Great Britain in an International Show on 14th & 15th March 2024.

After taking it over from a Year 13 student last year, Julia A (year 8) has continued to lead and organise the Amnesty International Society every week and has done so with perseverance, resilience, enthusiasm and courage! Well done, Julia for leading on such an important part of the OHS social action and community effort.

Thank you to Julia A (year 8), Mathilda K (year 11), Kate L (year 7), Hannah R (year 7), and Lirit M (year 12) for speaking at the GDST SLT Conference as part of the Student Voice panel. Our visitors praised your confidence, advocacy and desire to make a difference to our community. You represented OHS brilliantly and we are so proud of you.

Sophia R (year 7) has successfully auditioned for a place in the National Children’s Orchestra. This is a prestigious, national-level group, and gaining a place confirms she is one of the best cellists nationally in her age group.

Amy W (year 11) for achieving Gold CREST award for her project titled ‘Designing and Testing a pH-based Direct Carbon Capture Device’. Huge congratulations to Amy for this outstanding achievement!

Congratulations to Abby H (year 10) and Amy W (year 10) who receive a Head’s Award for their dedication to FIRST Tech robotics team, in particular: leading robot claw design and 3D printing, and competition driving, and to Meisong R ( year 10) for her dedication to FIRST Tech robotics team, in particular: robot engineering over many weeks.

Gabrielle G, Maya R and Rosemarie E (year 12) have been inspirational in setting up FemSoc this year and went on to lead the first OHS FemSoc week. We were impressed by their hard work and proactiveness in organising amazing speakers.

Thank you to Tiwa K (year 8) for representing OHS at the Access Event: ‘Shine a Light on Access to Independent schools’. Your enthusiasm for the event and engagement with the audience was recognised and greatly appreciated.

Congratulations to the Under 14 and Under 16 badminton teams, Agnes S, Aadya V, Sophie W, Trissee N (year 9), Zahra C, Tinya L, Zoe S and Joy H (year 11, who competed in the VICTOR/School Sport Magazine National Schools Badminton Cup competition.  In our first year of entering the competition, the Under 14 team reached the national semi-final and the Under 16 team competed in the national final.
