The Summer Term Ada Benson Lecture was held on May 5th and we were delighted to welcome Claire Davenport, current CEO of Notonthehighstreet into our Sixth Form Building.
The event was wonderfully organised and run by Year 12 students from our Hortensia club, with gorgeous canapés and drinks on the terrace, a chance to wander around the Ada Benson building before the talk, and we even had sunshine! It was fascinating to hear Claire talk about the importance of mentoring, how networking has been fundamental to her highly successful career, and the work she does for the Social Mobility Foundation. Questions from the audience gave Claire the opportunity to share, with humour and honesty, how she manages to integrate her own personal values into her many different roles. It really was a treat to have such a wonderful speaker, and in person!
From our Year 12 organisers:
“We were delighted to welcome the inspiring Claire Davenport, a dynamic speaker who provided an insight into the ways in which we can integrate our personal values into our careers, and highlighted the importance of developing ‘soft skills’.
The whole process of organising such a distinguished event was an extremely invaluable opportunity and we’d like to extend our gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the event; the catering team, Mr Hay, and of course Mrs Chipchase.”
