We are thrilled to announce that Year 13 student Kitty (S1) has been awarded 2nd place – out of over 400 entries worldwide! – in the recent Human Cell Atlas Poetry Challenge with her poem, Epithelium.
Hosted by the Young Poets Network, the aim of the challenge was to create an associative poem based on a word (of their own choice) linked to human cells.
As a result of Kitty’s superb entry, her poem will be published in the Human Cell Atlas zine and she will receive a one-to-one mentoring session next week with award-winning poet Theresa Muñoz. Kitty will also have a chance to read her poem at a future event hosted by the Newcastle Centre for Literary Arts.
Congratulations Kitty on your excellent achievement! What a brilliant way to merge the sciences and literary arts and you have certainly done an incredible job.
