Earlier this week, our Year 9 students took part in a Health and Wellbeing Day – a full day of workshops and events with a focus on developing healthy habits and making good choices. What’s more, we were delighted to welcome a number of external speakers and practitioners to OHS to facilitate the sessions and share their expertise with our girls.
The day kicked off with a talk from Drug Education UK, a specialist alcohol and drugs educator, before the students were split into smaller groups for interactive workshops on the topics of harmful substances and challenging risky behaviour. Following this initial session, the students heard from Emma Pereire, a qualified counsellor and former teacher, who talked about managing periods of anxiety or stress and shared some practical coping strategies.
In the afternoon, students got up and active as they took part in aerobic dance sessions with Groove Dance. As well as being a lot of fun, the sessions highlighted the importance of physical activity for wellbeing.
Thank you to all of our guests for making the day so informative and enjoyable, and special thanks to our wonderful Year 9s for taking part with the signature OHS enthusiasm and spirit!
