On Friday 31st January, Year 5 excelled themselves in their wonderful performance of Around the World in Eighty Days arranged and directed by Ian Murchie. It is always remarkable to see what the girls can achieve in just two days in order to put on a play to an audience on the Friday, but this year, the energy, motivation and creativity of the children reached new heights.
There were French, American and Cockney accents as well as upper class men conversing in their ‘Gentleman’s Club’, not to mention Indian princesses and gossipy English ladies. The stars of the show – the Chorus – had over 100 lines to learn in addition to all their individual parts. A real tour de force!
Well done, Year 5 and thank you so much to Mr Murchie for his enduring enthusiasm, generosity and inspiration. Thank you as well to Mike Hay for his assistance with the stage lighting which made our production really professional!
