Chess Champion and Cipher Challenge
Elizaveta, 10S, has continued her amazing success in the chess world. Last weekend, she came first at the Oxfordshire Junior Chess tournament in the Under 15 section (a mixed boys & girls competition). This means that she has retained the annual trophy for the second year in a row which is a fantastic achievement. The trophy was previously awarded to another Oxford High School student, alumna Harriet Hunt in 1991, and we are proud to be able to continue this tradition at OHS.
Elizaveta then went on to achieve joint second place in this year’s Cipher Challenge, which is a huge achievement in what was a very competitive contest involving 7622 participants in 4396 teams, overall. To succeed, contestants must show great stamina and Elizaveta solved both final tasks in a rapid time of 4 hours 20 minutes, which secured her a very good position on the leader board and a bronze medal. Well done Elizaveta!
