Wellbeing Tips From The Students

17 March 2022

As a school, one of our most important duties is to look after the emotional wellbeing and mental health of our students. We recognise that a student who is fully supported in these areas is a student who is happy and thrives.

We reached out to a few pupils to ask them what their top tips are for relaxing and looking after their wellbeing. Here is what they said –

Charlotte, Year 11: “Keep a journal, I find it can be a useful way to get things off your chest that are causing you stress. It can be helpful to reflect on your day, for example I enjoy keeping a gratitude journal. It is also fun if you enjoy art to decorate your journal. Also, keep up with your hobbies when stressed, they help you relax.”

Belle, Year 12: “Some tips from me for schoolwork would be:

  • Find a place that is brightly lit (more natural light the better)
  • Wear something comfy
  • Find a great playlist (whether upbeat to get you positively thinking or calm to help you focus)
  • Make a mug of your favourite drink
  • And then get started on work as soon as possible – the sooner you start, the sooner it’s over. If you’ve got a large workload, start by chipping away at the small stuff!”

Louisa, Year 7: “When I have lots of homework I find it hard to relax after school or on the weekend. I like to spend an hour on homework then an hour of relaxing each day so I know how much to do.”

Francesca, Year 11: “Keep a journal where you can let out and record your emotions. You could also use it for relaxing activities like drawing or descriptive writing and it doesn’t have to be perfect. It would be fun to look back on later.”
