Volunteering has always been something our students are passionate about.
Their natural can-do attitude and strong sense of compassion can be seen in the myriad ways OHS girls give their time to a range of causes and organisations. At this particular moment, girls have been going above and beyond to support those worst-affected by Covid-19.
Last week was #NationalVolunteersWeek which showcased the great work underway across the country. We’d like to take this opportunity to share an example of what one of our very own Year 10 students has been doing to help others long before the outbreak of the pandemic.
For the past two years, Annabelle has been volunteering for AGE UK by attending monthly tea parties with elderly people in her community. She also works with St. John’s Ambulance, helping out with local first-aid training events. As if that wasn’t inspirational enough, Annabelle helps run units for girls aged 5-7 for Girlguiding, a leading UK charity that empowers girls to be their best and become confident young women.
“I find this volunteering very rewarding as I feel like I am making a difference to people’s lives and doing my bit to make the world a better place.” – Annabelle
Thank you, Annabelle, for your continued efforts. You’re an example to us all.
