On Tuesday and Wednesday this week, our Year 10 students took part in a Sixth Form Open House event, providing them with the opportunity to find out more about the Sixth Form experience here at OHS! Students had a jam-packed schedule across the two days, with talks, taster lessons and even a virtual OHS Freshers’ Fair.
The Freshers’ Fair, which took place on the first day of the event, was run by our Year 12s and was all about celebrating the many opportunities OHS students have in the Sixth Form. They spoke with energy and warmth about Young Enterprise, Medsoc, Music, Wellbeing, and much more, sharing their experiences and answering questions. Many thanks to Y12 for being so enthusiastic, and successfully showcasing life in the Sixth Form.
On the second day, we welcomed Justine Gosling to speak to our Year 10s about her life as an adventurer, critical care physiotherapist and volunteer aid worker. Listening to Justine’s experiences of camping in the freezing Arctic, walking the entire length of Finland in 43 days, and the very personal tale of providing essential aid to fleeing Syrian refugees, was inspiring. A real insight into what we can gain from being bold, facing challenges and grasping opportunities. We were delighted to welcome Justine back to OHS today to give her insightful talk to our Year 11 students.
Thank you to everyone who helped organise and then attended our Open House event – it was a great success!
