Return of Hit the Wall Afternoons

14 January 2021

In these strange and uncertain times, a focus on wellbeing is more important than ever before. That’s why we’ve decided to relaunch our ‘Hit the Wall’ afternoons for the younger years in school, providing a break from the GHL routine and helping to instil a sense of positivity in our girls.

In the weekly sessions, students are encouraged to select and spend time on an activity from our ‘Wellbeing Wall’, full of inspiration and ideas, from learning how to crochet to attempting one of the legendary Joe Wicks workouts (kudos to anyone who can complete one of those and move as usual the next day!).

Each afternoon has a focus on one of the 5 ways to wellbeing: Be Active, Connect, Take Notice, Keep Learning and Give. All the suggestions on the ‘Wellbeing Wall’ sit under one of these categories, providing direction for the girls whilst also affording them the freedom to choose an activity of personal interest.

The first session took place earlier this week with the theme ‘Be Active’, and the girls certainly took this message on board. Many clocked up kilometres as part of the Race Across Europe competition, whilst others got inventive with home-based workouts. Well done to everyone who took part!

We love to see what our girls have been doing in their Hit the Wall sessions. Please send photos and updates to HitTheWall@oxf.gdst.net.
