In our latest Perspectives session, we were joined by Susie Dunachie, Professor of Infectious Diseases at Oxford University, who spoke to our Year 13s about the COVID-19 pandemic.
She explained how COVID’s unique ability to be transmitted before the infected person gets ill has propelled its spread and allowed it to take the world by storm, as well as highlighting the importance of vaccines.
We were also lucky enough to hear a little bit about her work on melioidosis in Thailand and get an insight into the steps being taken to cure HIV, and her experiences in this fight.
An amazing talk – thank you for joining us Professor Dunachie!
