Kaleidoscope – Fairytales and Calligrammes

18 October 2016

Year 10 – Fairytales and Caligrammes

It all began with a cartoon in French telling the story of Blue Beard, the year 10  French students then went on to discover that a few of their beloved childhood tales such as sleeping beauty and Cinderella, originated from France and from the mind of a writer called Charles Perrault. The students had to spend some time reading a few of his stories in groups, choosing the most important story lines and then they had to illustrate one of the stories, in the style of Apollinaire’s Calligrammes. The students enjoyed the workshop tremendously and produced wonderful Calligrammes that you can see below!

‘It has definitely been my favourite Kaleidoscope so far!’

‘I thought it was worthwhile and a great introduction to French literature and reading.’

‘I really enjoyed the Calligrammes workshop because we were reading traditional French and it was a fun insight into a style that we don’t usually see. Working in a group and creating the poster was really fun’
