Kaleidoscope Day

13 October 2022

Here at OHS Kaleidoscope Days are two special days in the school year where the normal school day and programme of lessons is interrupted by a special day of activities either within school, or off at a location elsewhere.

Our pupils are treated to events and activities that compliment academic curriculum whilst providing a learning experience out of the classroom or laboratory. The hum of excitement is palpable during morning registration as pupils anticipate what their day will bring.

This year our pupils headed in all directions; Year 7 were treated to a Classics trip to the Ashmolean Museum and Oxford Castle, Year 8, a Science trip to the Cotswold Wildlife Park. Our Year 9s headed off to the Black Country Living Museum and Year 10 to a Learning for Life programme within school. Our Year 11 undertook a range of activity workshops including dance, drama, singing and ‘Stomp’ (percussion)! All hosted by professionals from Flintlock Theatre, Stepping Stone Performing Arts and an Estill Master Trainer (vocal coach), completing their day with a group Zumba dance off!

Meanwhile, our 6th Form were able to focus on their Extended Research Programme with a dedicated Festival to support their work.

Everyone had an amazing day, thank you to everyone involved in hosting, activities or escorting!
