Charlotte C, in Year 9, found success at the British Triathlon ‘Inter Regional Championships’ (IRC), whilst representing the South Central team. Charlotte competed against some of the best triathletes from each region in Great Britain.
The championships were held at the Mallory Park Racing circuit in Leicestershire. Read on to hear more about her experience…
“It was an early start on Saturday with a 5 am wakeup and my race heat was at 8:50 am with a 300 meter swim in a lake, 2.5 kilometer bike ride on a flat tarmac surface and finally a 1.25 kilometer run again on a flat tarmac surface. That afternoon I got into the final, where I had to compete the same distances again. There were two final heats and overall I came 12th in my heat. I think I raced well, especially during the sweltering 35 degree heat.
I really enjoyed the experience and I will hopefully come back next year stronger and faster. I have also applied for the South Central Academy trials, so I am hoping to get through to the academy team!” Charlotte, Year 9
