French Day kicked off on Monday 17 June 2019, with an assembly by the Year 10 French students about “La fête de la Musique”, which was the theme for the event this year. A real treat was to hear the Year 10 and the Muse and the Musettes sing their own French rendition of the song “Love Story” by Taylor swift.
This was followed with various activities about French songs during French lessons. The highlight of French Day was the French play (for Year 7 pupils) produced by the multilingual theatre group Onatti, entitled “Ticket pour l’espace “. The play was about Jack, a fifteen-year old boy who wins a trip into space, but ends up stuck on a planet with aliens. This play was interactive and the packed audience had a great time calling out and even, in some cases, getting on stage to take part in the play itself.
To top it all off, we were then served a wonderful French lunch by the catering team, who had even even managed to source frog’s legs and snails. Miam miam!
