Year 12 Chemistry students were welcomed back into the classroom to complete several essential practical assessments – a challenging prospect during lockdown.
The set up for the work was of course meticulously prepared by our chemistry technician during the week to ensure that pupils could undertake this safely.
Two different kinetics practicals were carried out first, followed by the smelly organic functional group testing, and lastly the precipitates of Group 2 metals.
An eclectic mix of music resounded around the science labs throughout the two days, adding to the buzz of activity.
Pupils were not only very happy to see one another again, but also thoroughly enjoyed carrying out the practicals – “more than expected”, as one pupil stated!
