Last week, Year 4 students embarked on an extraordinary journey into the heart of Chinese culture with a workshop on Beijing Opera. They explored its rich history, learned about the significance of the four main roles and particularly focused on the masks unique to the Jing role characters. A Beijing Opera expert guided the students through the intricate singing, dancing and stylised actions (such as riding an imaginary horse and navigating a boat on stage). This workshop was not just an educational deep dive into a significant aspect of Chinese heritage, it was also an immensely fun session that left students with a greater appreciation for the art form and an eagerness to explore more.
