The Student Ambassadors for Teaching and Learning

21 September 2023

The Student Ambassadors for Teaching and Learning enjoyed a launch event on Friday 8th September 2023. At the end of last term students from all years were given the opportunity to apply for the role. The students completed an application and group interview to gain this position.

We are pleased to announce that we have 25 ‘Student Ambassadors for Teaching and Learning’ at OHS who are keen to begin learning how to complete small scale educational research projects. Over the course of the academic year students will engage with literature, develop methodologies, collect and analyse data and draw conclusions relating to a range of research projects of their choice. Students will have opportunities later in the year to present their research to peers, staff and further afield.

I was really excited when I found out I was a ‘Student Ambassador for Teaching and Learning’ because I wanted to get to know new people. Working with my teachers and peers sounded great. I was also fascinated with the research that we could be doing and the fact that it might be shown internationally.

I was quite impressed at the first meeting. It was a friendly environment and there was food. We were given a badge, pen and notebook which I loved. The presentation shown had enough information and it was posted onto the Google Classroom afterwards so we could see the dates for the major meetings. Julia A, Year 8

We look forward to working with the Student Ambassadors throughout this academic year and seeing what projects they come up with! Miss Sissons & Miss Steer
