Who are you playing in Matilda?
Molly: My name is Molly and I am playing Matilda. I love the musical so much, so it has been amazing to be part of the show.
Polly: I play Eric, who is the smallest of the class but he gets to have lots of duets and opens the show.
Alejandra: My name is Alejandra and I am playing the role of Nigel, one of Matilda’s classmates.
What have rehearsals been like?
Molly: The rehearsals have been quite hard work, but so fun and watching the show come together has been awesome and I always look forward to it. So far we covered quite a few songs, scenes and dances, but the big dancing numbers are the most fun, because the whole cast takes part.
Polly: So far, we have learnt some of the dances taught by Mr Lewin, which were fun and exciting. In the song ‘Revolting Children’ we get to dance on tables and sing in a large group, as well as having amazing soloists, which really bring the show together.
Alejandra: Rehearsals have been so fun, learning the choreography and singing all the songs together really has been a great experience, it is really cool to see the show come together piece by piece. Everyone is so passionate and hard working, the energy in rehearsals is amazing. We have such dedicated teachers who really make the musical shine, and always encourage us to go further.
What’s it like being in a show like Matilda?
Molly: Being Matilda is my first proper main role in a musical, so this is a very new experience for me, but it has been and will continue to be an incredible experience.
What are you looking forward to?
Molly: I am looking forward to the last few weeks of rehearsals- they are always the most stressful, but definitely the most fun.
Polly: I am looking forward to the costumes, set and how the Trunchbull is going to be portrayed.
Alejandra: It is my first time having a big role in such a large and energetic musical, like Matilda. I’m so excited to show everyone what we have been working on and give a memorable performance after working so hard. I hope everyone enjoys the show!
