This year, with the introduction of our new Behaviour and Rewards system, we have introduced the Head’s Award which is given to students who have made exceptional contributions to school life, through excellent individual work, personal achievement or an exceptional one-off act.
Huge congratulations to the following students who have received a Head’s Award this half of term:
- Angela (Year 8) and Yanzuan (Year 9), who both auditioned successfully for a place in the National Children’s Orchestra.
- Grace and Michaela (both in Year 13) for organising and hosting a fantastic Engineering Conference, which was watched by 28 other schools across the country. They selected speakers they knew or had seen before on the basis of their expertise, enthusiasm and range of specialisms and did a fantastic job of presenting on the day.
- Matilda (Year 11) on being accepted into The National Youth Training Choir. This was a highly competitive audition and Tilly is one of only 100 from across the age ranges and country to be accepted. This is on the path to elite level singing. As a result, she will sing at the Royal Albert Hall and be part of recording an album.
- Earlier in the term, we heard the impressive news that Olivia’s (Year 13) translated poem was published in an Anthology as part of the Prismatic Jane Eyre School Project.
- And well done to Flo (Year 8) for the consistently high level of artwork she produces for her homework. Flo’s sketchbook is very creatively presented and similar to a GCSE standard.
- Grace and Nuala (Year 13) for their beautiful organisation of the lecture: In Conversation with Simon Beaufoy. Grace and Nuala researched, planned and delivered the questions perfectly. The evening was a huge success.
- Maggie (Year 7), Amelie (Year 12), Ella (Year 8) and Isla (Year 8) gave exceptional performances at the National Cross Country final in Leeds. Thank you for giving up your time at the weekend, and representing the school. We are proud of your contribution! Unfortunately Charlotte (Year 8) was unable to attend the final due to injury, but you are all to be congratulated.
- Isabella (Year 9) gained full marks in the Bebras Computing Challenge. Only 207 students in the UK achieved all 200 marks out of 185,560 in her category, putting her in the top 0.1%.
- Ella (Year 8), Maria (Year 8), Evie (Year 8) and Emilia (Year 8) was part of the team that qualified for the Independent Schools Final of the Cyber First Girls Competition – one of 12 teams across the UK.
- Bianca (Year 8) was part of the fantastic National cross country final team but was unable to join us in Leeds due to other sporting commitments.
- Zahra (Year 11) organised and hosted Professor Justin Wark, Professor for Physics at Oxford University. Not only was it a wonderful talk, but it was also wonderful to see Zahra overcome some initial nerves introducing the talk and leading the Q&A session to 27 people in the audience!
- Cecily (Year 11) has been selected for a number of England Football Camps, and got her first cap for England when they played against Wales. Cecily captained the side as well. Absolutely incredible!
- Lucy (Year 11) has been selected for the Independent Schools Football Association team this season, which is selected Nationally from all the private schools in England. This is a fantastic achievement. Congratulations Lucy!
- Emma and Imogen (Year 11) have both been selected for England Hockey’s National Talent Academy. This is a remarkable achievement – well done to you both!
- Emily (Year 10) has been selected to represent England in squash in the Five Nations and European Championships. Well done!
