On Monday 24th April 2023, our Young Enterprise team, Alyra, attended the Oxfordshire Finals. They took home the ‘Overall Winner for Oxfordshire’ award for the 16th year in a row! The team also received awards for their presentation and report.
The Young Enterprise programme gives our Year 12 students the opportunity to develop key employability skills outside of the classroom, giving them the confidence to succeed in the world of business.
This year’s team, Alyra, creates handmade, unique and sustainable collections of jewellery. The collections each have a theme, their first collection was known as Bloom, with each piece of jewellery being modelled on a specific flower and its meaning.
Their mission is to spread joy and colour through jewellery people will want to wear time and again, but does not harm the planet – instead encouraging environmental awareness. Each of their products is handmade and sustainable, influenced by the issues many companies cause by using unethical mass production and the worsening climate crisis. This is what they had to say about their success:
“We had a great time at the Oxfordshire Finals on Monday. Our team brilliantly showcased our products and journey in both the interview and presentation and we are so happy to have won the awards for Overall Winner, Best Presentation and Best Report. Next, we are excited to attend the Regional Finals in May, which we are already working towards and hope will be a similar rewarding experience!”Flora
Alyra will go on to the next stage of the Young Enterprise competition on Thursday 25th May 2023.
