Year 4 recently visited Christ Church Cathedral as part of their history topic on Kings and Queens. The girls were given a guided tour of the cathedral and enjoyed a privileged visit to the college library, where they saw treasured artefacts such as Queen Elizabeth I’s personal bible and ancient hand written manuscripts. Additionally, they listened to a presentation about Henry VIII and his active involvement with Christ Church following the fall from power of Cardinal Wolsey in 1529. They also visited the chapel of St Frideswide, Oxford’s patron saint before exploring the Great Hall where portraits of various monarchs could be seen alongside other notable scholars, such as Lewis Carroll.
