Year 3 spent a day in the life as a WW2 evacuee last week on their trip to Didcot Railway Centre.
They spent time in an air raid shelter, crawled through an escape tunnel and then formed a fire chain to put fires out before being evacuated by on a steam train to the countryside. Here the billeting officer assigned them to different families, and they undertook jobs on the farm, in the manor house polishing silver and doing laundry and cleaning the steam engine too. It was a wonderful way to end our history focus on World War II.
