Last week, we said goodbye to our Year 13 cohort as they celebrated their final week in school with all sorts of fun and heartfelt activities before going on study leave.
In time-honoured OHS tradition, Year 13 took over Assembly last week to say goodbye to the school. For the first time in over 18 months the whole school gathered in the Main Hall together to celebrate our 2022 Leavers and watch their farewell film. Set to a medley mash-up of songs, the film featured Year 13’s nostalgic take on OHS life and perfectly captured their energy, camaraderie and appetite for fun, with plenty of cameo roles from staff, too. We ended Assembly with a montage of then and now photos of each individual student. A huge thanks to Stella and Georgia for their time and expertise and for taking on responsibility as directors and producers of the film. Year 13 parents will have their own viewing of the film at the At Home and Farewell to Year 13 on 6th July.
On Friday 20th, students and staff were greeted to a wacky makeover of the school buildings for Year 13’s Muck Up Day – and they certainly made a statement. There were balloons all over the Crush Hall, plenty of bunting at the school entrance, memes and inside jokes on all the school walls, chairs covering the tennis courts… only to name a few! Year 13 also got to enjoy a bouncy castle in the Main Hall, and students and staff were treated to an ice cream van – just what you need during a sunny lunchtime!
Year 13 then gathered in the Atrium for a delightful afternoon tea with lots of photo-taking and signing each other’s T-shirts. The students also received a rather heartwarming surprise, as they got to read letters that they wrote way back in Year 7 and have been stored in a “time capsule” since! Plenty of smiles, hugs, and laughter concluded what had been an exciting day and we couldn’t think of a more perfect way to celebrate their final day in school.
