What do you get when Cinderella is late, Prince Charming quits, and the director is one disaster away from a breakdown? The answer: Final Dress Rehearsal by Jack Frakes, a chaotic and hilarious comedy directed and performed brilliantly by our Year 12 Company.
This year’s production told the story of an amateur theatre group’s final rehearsal of a classic fairy tale, with a rather tragic twist. Guided by a distraught director and a melodramatic authoress, the cast and crew of the fictional show scramble to hold things together as everything around them falls apart.
Our students brought the madness to life with enormous energy, impeccable timing, and standout performances across the board. The audience were treated to a whirlwind of backstage drama and front-of-house chaos, delivered with confidence and comic flair. The production was co-directed by Caoimhe and Isabella, both in Year 12, who deserve huge congratulations for leading such a slick and spirited show. From casting to staging, their creative vision and leadership shone through in every scene.
The Year 12 Company are also raising money for SSNAP (Support for the Sick Newborn and their Parents), a local Oxford-based charity that supports families and staff at the John Radcliffe Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
This was a production full of humour and heart. Well done to everyone involved!
