‘Women of the Future’ Careers Event

14 February 2022

On Friday 4th February, students in Years 10-13 tuned in to our annual Careers Event, held virtually here at Oxford High School. Entitled ‘Women of the Future – OHS alumnae and their journeys’, the event brought together 30 alumnae who generously shared their professional experiences and differing careers paths with our students.

Following a welcome talk from Helen Thomas, founder of consultancy business BlondeMoney, students were able to join panel sessions of their choosing. With 8 available options, covering everything from Arts and Humanities to Finance and STEM, there was a broad range of industries and career paths represented. In the next part of the event, the breakout rooms were opened up, each of which focused on a relevant question or topic, from living and working abroad to being a student. As with the panel sessions, students were able to attend whichever rooms were most relevant and useful to them. To close the event, we heard from our wonderful Year 12 Careers Assistants as well as Mrs Gardiner Legge.

The feedback following the event has been overwhelmingly positive –

“It was really informative and fun to hear people’s experiences and advice for a variety of things, and a lot of the talks gave me inspiration to go look into careers I might not have considered.”

“It was very insightful and I am feeling much more confident about my future.”

“To the alumnae: Thank you very much for taking time out of your schedule to answer our questions and worries. I enjoyed it and I am very grateful for your guidance.”

Thank you to everyone who helped make the evening such a success!
