Yes, you read it here first – what a way to finish our Cricket season!! We had 2 x U10 mixed ability teams playing with Bella and Nora captaining!
Miss Dandridge’s U10 team worked wonders on Wednesday afternoon. They played an outstanding game and worked especially hard in the sunshine! We began the game fielding where OHS managed to stop the Dragon from getting many balls outside of the boundary. A special mention goes to Aishani for her excellent wicket hitting skills. The Dragon achieved 262 runs.
Onto our batting. Our students paired up in their teams and hit some lovely balls, many of which they scored over 4 runs. It all came down to the last pair needing to achieve at least 30 runs to win the game.
We ended the game on a draw with both teams ending on 262 runs.
Dragon’s Bowler of the match – Connie L
Dragon’s Batter of the match – Valerie B
Mrs Day’s U10 team fought hard, coming up against a stubborn Dragon side who batted well and achieved 279 runs. Our bowlers persevered with our bowling and some timely wickets from Emmerline, Mary, Anabia and 2 from Captain Bella meant we were confident heading into bat.
With fantastic support from the parents who came to watch and the players waiting for their turn to bat, we had a sticky start with miscommunication meaning we lost 2 wickets. However, all was not lost, as we learnt from our mistakes very quickly and started to work well within our batting pair. Yahavi and Anabia kept the score board ticking along nicely with some well taken singles, but it was the last over where we really had to play our shots to get the runs we needed. Up stepped Mary and Bella to bring the win home for us – Bella hitting 33 runs off 7 shots – absolutely fantastic captaincy by Bella (who was showing her true passion for Cricket) and teamwork by all the team.
Dragon’s Bowler of the match – Yahavi
Dragon’s Batter of the match – Bella.
