Written by our Year 12 Chinese students
On the 28th of March, Year 12 Chinese students embarked on a trip to UCL for a conference about studying Chinese at university level.
It was a gloriously sunny day to travel to London which put us in a good mood for the rest of the day! Arriving at Marylebone station, the excitement was palpable! We had the delight of eating authentic Chinese food at a traditional Xi’an restaurant. They served delicious Biang Biang noodles and Murgers, the Chinese equivalent to a hamburger. It was a challenge to use chopsticks, but we eventually managed to get the hang of it!
Full from our meal, we traveled to the UCL Institute of Education (with the help of Google Maps!), coming together with other school pupils from different parts of the country. The event began with four university students, from Durham, Sheffield, Warwick and Cardiff, describing their experiences studying Chinese. It was an informal yet insightful way to begin the event.
After this, all the school pupils in the audience had the opportunity to look around the university stalls which created a lively and exciting atmosphere in the room. It was a great way to get a better understanding of each university’s available courses as well as the student life. We all thoroughly enjoyed our trip and can’t wait to see where our Chinese studies will take us!
