On Monday 15th January 2024, the Debate Club presented an assembly on the importance of debate, public speaking and meaningful conversations.
The Importance of Debate
Debate serves as a powerful vehicle for cultivating critical thinking, public speaking and research skills. The Debate Club plays a pivotal role in nurturing these abilities among members, while providing a supportive environment where students can explore diverse perspectives, practice empathy and develop a deep understanding of complex issues.
Trips and Experiences
Students who participate in the Debate Club can be selected for several trips and competitions. Last year, students took part in the International Competition for Young Debaters at the Oxford Union, known for hosting debates that shape global perspectives. These competitions provide an unparalleled platform for students to showcase their talents and challenge themselves to elevate their debating skills. The thrill of competition encourages students to push their limits, fostering personal growth and resilience.
The Debate Club runs on Tuesdays for casual debate at 12.25 pm and Wednesdays for competition debate at 12.25 pm.
