In the Junior School we run The Modern Woman which focuses on some of the key women who helped shape the world we live in today. We investigate social and economic developments for women, changes in perception and the understanding of ‘strengths’. The role and accomplishments of women across the arts, in mathematics, science and the imagery of popular culture are but a few of the other topics covered.
We always look forward with anticipation to welcoming a stream of visiting speakers. These give the girls the opportunity to sample the possibilities that await them in their adult life and to tap into the expertise of our parents and alumnae. Recent talks have included civil engineering, complete with pictures of exciting projects at home and abroad. We also include a number of trips, including a visit to the Oxford Castle to investigate the history of Mary Blandy and the Tate Modern is in the second half of term.
