Dr Fitzroy Morrissey from All Souls College, Oxford, gave a very interesting lunchtime talk on Friday 3rd December on the history of Islamic thought.
Dr Morrissey explained the meaning of the term ‘Islam’ and outlined key aspects of the faith: monotheism, revelation, prophecy, interpretation, and caliphate. His talk introduced interesting developments in the tradition, for example law and mysticism. There were insightful questions from our students who ranged from across the year groups.
We thank Dr Morrissey very much for his time and for a fascinating and detailed talk, which was of direct relevance to our GCSE RS students who are studying Islam, and also to the wider intellectual interests of our students!
