‘Take part in the largest exhibition ever staged!’ It was with these impactful words that the Great Big Art Exhibition, a countrywide initiative run by Firstsite, was launched back in January. The premise is simple: create a piece of artwork, display said artwork in your window and, finally, share online for all to enjoy.
Here at OHS, where we pride ourselves on the creativity and originality of our girls, such a tempting offer was not to be passed up. As such, the challenge was presented and our girls in Years 7, 8, 9, 10 and 12 took out their pencils, paints, papers, scissors, cameras, baking bowls, and even knitting needles, and got stuck in.
The results were phenomenal. From scenic paintings and intricate drawings to origami animals and colourful cupcakes, we were flooded with photographs of beautiful and thoughtful creations from students throughout the school. Well done to everyone who took part!
