Year 8 artists were thrilled this week to visit Oxford’s amazing Pitt Rivers Museum as part of their “Sign of the Times” project, which is aimed at exploring different ideas of culture and identity.
With keen eyes they sought out exciting textures, patterns and symbols to draw in their sketchbooks and photograph for posterity. These images will feed into their project work for the remainder of the term, providing inspiration and ideas as well as some fairly unforgettable memories. The girls were more than a little chilled, for example, by the case of shrunken heads. However, they behaved impeccably throughout the visit and were clearly thrilled to have the opportunity of exploring this treasure trove of curation and collecting in such depth.
