In the second part of our focus on Higher Education with an international focus, Director of Sixth Form Rachael Pallas-Brown reflects on the growing proportion of OHS students electing to study an MFL subject or overseas.
Russell Group universities such as Nottingham (the first UK university to pioneer overseas campuses in Malaysia and later China) Southampton, UCL and Leeds are always popular destinations for OHS students, and opportunities to study overseas at their international campuses whether for a term or a whole year provide an extra dimension for undergraduates. In fact, 39 UK universities now have an overseas campus reflecting the international outlook of Generation Z.
Over 25% of this year’s university applicants have chosen degree courses with an international focus. A wide range of languages such as Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish all feature among Year 13’s chosen courses, reflecting the importance we place on languages at OHS.
In addition, degrees with an international dimension (such as Geography and Sustainable Development, International Business and Spanish or English and American Studies) or with a study abroad option are very popular choices for our OHS 2020 cohort. A truly global outlook!
