We’re delighted to announce that we have three winners in this year’s Stephen Spender Prize for Translation: Marianne (Year 12), Manal (Year 8) and Eylul (Year 8).
This competition, named after the 20th Century English poet Sir Stephen Harold Spender, CBE, was established in 2004 and is a wonderful way to combine the joy of translation with discovering foreign poetry. More than 20 OHS students (and 4 staff) entered the prize in July 2021, translating a poem from the language of their choice into English, with the following results:
In the U18 category – Marianne – Commended
In the U14 category – Manal – Commended
In the U14 category – Eylul – Highly Commended
Congratulations Marianne, Manal and Eylul on this phenomenal achievement!
