Rather than let the cancellation of this year’s Sports Day get us down, we decided to offer all students the chance to take part in a Virtual Sports Day instead.
The PE department rose to the challenge and devised an array of events that could be done at home or in a local park. They then demonstrated these events online, providing some excellent footage for students to enjoy and follow.
We’re thrilled to report that the event was a roaring success. We heard of students meeting up to do their events together (socially-distanced of course), whilst others followed along over video call at home with their families.
This is exactly why we had to continue with the event – to enable our community to come together even in these difficult times. A huge thank you to all the staff, students, and families for their support and engagement.
The results will be revealed in the final Presentation Assembly of the year on Thursday 9th July.
BBC Radio Oxford also recently interviewed Miss McGonigle, Director of Sport, to ask her about our virtual sports day and how she and her team have been carrying on with PE lessons during lockdown. Follow the link below and press play at 12 minutes!
