On the first day of term, Sixth Form students eagerly embraced a series of dynamic activities designed to challenge them, help build resilience and foster new friendships. Sixth Form Challenge Day, a longstanding tradition at the start of the academic year, transforms the Ada Benson Building into a hub of excitement.
One aspect of Challenge Day is its ability to push students out of their comfort zones. Through engaging in diverse activities – such as beatboxing, spoon whittling, creating clay creatures, and tea blending – students are encouraged to take a leap into the unknown, exploring skills they never knew they had. Other captivating activities included a cappella singing, tango lessons, cryptic crosswords and more.
The benefits of the day go far beyond trying something new. These challenges help students develop the resilience and confidence needed for A Levels and beyond. By stepping into unfamiliar situations, students learn to navigate discomfort, building the mental resilience that will serve them in the face of future challenges. Whether they were working out a complex crossword clue or mastering the art of spoon whittling, each task required perseverance, adaptability and a positive mindset – essential life skills that transcend the classroom.
Well done to all involved!
