Simon Beaufoy Lecture

2 December 2022

For our termly lecture, we welcomed critically acclaimed screenwriter Simon Beaufoy. He’s had a varied career, but is best known for writing Oscar-winning ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ and adapting the second instalment of ‘The Hunger Games’. We were excited to meet him, learn about his interesting career and delve into upcoming projects.

The Event was wonderfully organised and hosted by our Year 13 Hortensia Club, who gave us an update on the event:

“Nuala and I were lucky enough to host the talented Simon Beaufoy in a Q&A session. It was fascinating to hear about the screenwriter’s work, ask him questions, and hear an interesting array from the audience. More than anything, I found his focus in portraying the ‘truth’ through his work, so very inspiring. As we live in a fast-moving visual revolution, knowing that there are people in the industry so dedicated to their craft, is really fascinating. I can’t wait to see the project he has underway, which is due to be released next year. I will be turning a critical eye – and seeking the truth in both films and TV I watch.”
