Year 5 recently visited the Pitt Rivers Museum as part of our cross-curricular shadow puppetry project, a collaboration between Mandarin and Music. This initiative combines Chinese-language shadow puppet storytelling with musical accompaniment.
The museum visit offered valuable insights into global puppetry traditions, highlighting both the technical craftsmanship and the narrative richness of different cultures. During the visit, pupils had the opportunity to handle Japanese puppets, take part in a shadow puppet performance, and explore the museum to gather inspiration for their own creative stories.
The girls will be performing their own Shadow Puppet shows in the summer combining Mandarin, Music and science – another addition to our wonderful co-curricular curriculum.
