Robin Stevens at OHS

27 June 2024

Written by Alya S, Year 7

On Tuesday 11th June, Robin Stevens (the author of the Murder Most Unladylike series) came to our school to give a talk. Along with my friends Taqee and Anais, we had a chance to give Robin some OHS honey from the bees, some sunflower seeds and a detective club badge before the talk started. It was very exciting and it was a thrilling experience to meet her. After that, we returned to the dining hall where we waited for a couple of minutes and then it was finally time!

When we entered the main hall for the talk, it was exciting and there was actually a lot of commotion. We sat and waited a bit more and then Robin came and took her place on the stage. She talked about her encouraging journey of writing the book and her inspiration while writing. It was a very informative and enjoyable talk and we also got the chance to create our own murder mystery together! It was very fun and at the end Robin took some questions.

When the talk ended, we went to get our books signed and when it was my turn, I asked if we were going to see more of the Junior Pinkertons. She said that since she was so busy with the new Ministry Of Unladylike Activity that we wouldn’t see them for now. Altogether, it was a very fun and informative experience and I would love to see something like this again!
