We are so excited to announce that we are working towards becoming a Rights Respecting School, and hope to achieve the bronze level by the end of this academic year. We believe that this award aligns with our ethos and values and puts the child at the heart of everything that we do. The start of our journey is timed to coincide with Children’s Mental Health week, the theme of which, very fittingly, is ‘My Voice Matters’.
The Rights Respecting Schools Award puts children’s rights at the heart of school life in the UK.
The UK Committee for UNICEF (UNICEF UK) works with schools in the UK to create safe and inspiring places to learn, where children are respected, their talents are nurtured and they are able to thrive. Our Rights Respecting Schools Award embeds these values in daily school life and gives children the best chance to lead happy, healthy lives and to be responsible, active citizens.
The girls have already started thinking about this prestigious award. They have already completed activities, and had meaningful, in-depth discussions, based on what matters to them, what challenges they face, how they feel and who they want to be heard by.
In addition to this, a house poster competition has been launched. The theme of which focuses on creating a photo collage entitled ‘See the World Through My Eyes‘.
