We are mO=On, the breath of space exploration; and we are beyond excited to announce that we are Conrad Challenge finalists for 2025 – the only team from Europe! We are so pleased to have our hard work recognised in this way and are looking forward to attending the International Finals at Space Center Houston in April, where we get to pitch our innovation to the judges as well as run our own exhibition stall at the Conrad convention. This will also be an opportunity for us to fully immerse ourselves into the space industry and communicate with other like-minded people from across the globe.
Our aim as mO=On was to highlight the significant potential lunar regolith has so for our submission we have designed an innovative system to sustainably extract, store and transport liquid Oxygen and Hydrogen across the lunar surface. Our work so far consists of designing extraction facilities, storage canisters and a custom maglev track to build across the lunar surface.
We have really enjoyed working on this innovation since it has allowed us to discover fascinating areas of space exploration from Space architecture to Space law. So far we have learnt a lot, not just about space travel and the Moon, but also entrepreneurial skills such as running a business successfully and marketing our designs effectively.
Overall this project has inspired us to stay curious, encouraging us to have an explorative approach not only in academics but to all things in life. We are really grateful for all the support we have received with this project so far, especially from Dr Kewell and Mr Gallacher.
