We are a modern progressive school, shaped by our girls’ voices. We know our pupils and champion each individual to enable them to ‘Go Beyond’ academically, socially and pastorally by exciting, engaging, enriching and empowering them. We explore and are curious to ‘go beyond’ what we know to expand our social, commercial, global and environmental awareness.
Our girls will shape the future world and so we believe that by equipping them with a wealth of knowledge and experience of different countries and cultures, it will provide them with a strong foundation.
Every term, each year group focuses on a different country. Each country has been carefully selected to link with and enhance a year groups’ curriculum. Our Global Studies curriculum is regularly audited and updated to ensure we are offering a broad and diverse breadth of countries.
Importantly, there is a significant language focus in this subject, not only do we teach Mandarin from Reception to Year 6, but through each country explored, a language element is taught. Global Studies not only encapsulates a country’s language, but teachers and students tease out the geography, religion and history intertwined within each culture.
We want out girls to harbour a natural empathy and respect for other cultures and display a willingness to engage and learn about them.
