PE and Sport were always going to look a little bit different on return to OHS in September 2020. Nonetheless, we have loved having the students back together and being active with their peers.
The girls’ renewed enthusiasm for PE and Sport has been refreshing, and we are glad to see them enjoying themselves. Lessons have been slightly amended in terms of the sports being played, and the rulings within those sports, but there’s still plenty that can be done safely.
Following ‘Foundation Fortnight’, we have been able to slowly introduce some sports clubs, and by the end of next week, all year groups 7-10 will be able to attend a football and netball club if they wish. Attendance this first week has been extremely high, with Year 7 netball more popular than ever. Hockey will also come back onto the schedule from next week, with a phased return for the different year groups, including for our Year 11-13s. Furthermore, our 6th Form 1st Team players will soon have the opportunity to attend Strength and Conditioning sessions in our extra-curricular programme.
We are delighted that the PE lessons and clubs are going so well, and know that many students are thrilled to participating in sport once again. The staff are glad to have things back up and running again too. Though there are some differences, there is plenty for which to be grateful!
